Batz: Thank you for having this interview, Edna! It was so wonderful meeting you at Sin City Anime finally! Your artist booth was so cute!! How long have you been an artist for?
Edna: I’ve always had an interest in art and have taken a few art classes during my school years, but nothing superformal. It wasn’t until the Pandemic when I picked up digital art and decided to share my doodles on Instagram. Since then, I’ve gotten more serious about my art as a business and just been exploring my own style and connecting with other artists so I could keep growing and developing my skills.
Batz: From adorable doodles to adorable artwork! What are your main artistic tools of choice?
Edna: I work digitally with my iPad, Apple Pencil and Procreate!
Batz: What or who were your inspirations for being an artist?
Edna: My style is heavily influenced by anime, and I focus mainly on the kawaii and chibi styles you find in the Shojo genre. Other artists I also look up to include Birduyen, Fluffnest Art and Seviyummy on IG!
Batz: Those are all wonderful artists! I want to mention that I adore Fluffnest too, and I’m so excited for the video game that they are creating! Speaking of creating, what are your favorite pieces that you’ve made before?
Edna: Everything! I love how the sparkle laminate adds to my art! I love putting my art onto glass tumblers! And I love seeing my art hang off my rearview mirror as an air freshener! It all sparks joy for me and I always hope it does for others as well!
Stickers, Glass Art, and Air Fresheners

Batz: The sparkle stickers are so pretty! And the glass tumblers and air fresheners are so cute too! Are there any new or future releases to be looking forward to?
Edna: I may or may not be looking into apparel at the moment. We’ll see!
Batz: Wow!!! I can’t wait to wear Peony Lee Art in the future! Will you be attending any conventions or events in 2023-2024?
Edna: I have so many coming up! Most notably, I’ll be at LA Comic Con the first weekend of December, and then next year I am super excited to be a part of the 626 Night Market scene in OC and Arcadia! You can find a full calendar of my upcoming events on my website as well!

Batz (cont.) Do you have any advice or words of encouragement for those new and curious about drawing and the art world?
Edna:
⊹ It is okay to use references! If you can’t quite “see” how you’re supposed to draw something, use a reference to give you a better idea on how to capture what you are trying to do.
⊹ Keep trying new things! Art and style are always changing and you can keep growing and developing your own style if you try new things.
⊹ Be kind to yourself! We are often our own worst critics, so if you need a break, take a break and come back to it later.
⊹ Enjoy the process! Art is about creating, not perfection.
Batz: These are very helpful tips and truly inspiring! Before we end this interview, is there anything you would like to say to The Nerdy Bat Cave readers?
Edna: Thank you so much for reading! I appreciate your support and hope to see you around! Please come by and say hi. I’d love to meet you all!
